One hour max talk on sustainability strategy with Ludovic Dardinier, Hydro Aluminium Clervaux
ILA is pleased to hold a series of short 'one hour max talk' with key decision makers who have already walked or have concrete plans to walk the pass to a strategy that fully embeds sustainability. The objective of these talks will be allow these decision makers to very concretely explain their 'sustainability strategy' and most of all provide feedback on what role their boards and the governance model in general has been or is playing in getting there.
This interview will be hosted by Gaston Trauffler and Raymond Schadeck, both members of the ILA Sustainability Strategy for Boards committee, who will welcome Mr Ludovic Dardinier, Managing Director, Primary Metal, Hydro Aluminium Clervaux S.A.

Ludovic Dardinier
Ludovic
Dardinier holds degrees in 2 different areas. He is both a civil engineer with
a degree from the École des Mines de Saint-Étienne and he holds an executive
MBA awarded jointly by ICN and EM Strasbourg.
He started his career working for
the Max Planck Institute in Stuttgart before going on to work in the steel
industry with Arcelor Mittal. There, Ludovic held several managerial positions
in R&D before being in charge of production at several hot rolling mills in
France and in Brazil.
In 2008, he started working for Novelis (now Eurofoil), a
manufacturer of aluminium sheets in Dudelange, where he held the position of
head of operations.
In 2014, he joined Hydro as Managing Director and refurbished
the Clervaux foundry (capacity of 120,000 metric tonnes, specialising in
aluminium recycling for the construction sector).
Ludovic took part in
developing Circal 75R. This product is unique in the market and has the
lowest carbon footprint in the world. In 2019, the Clervaux site was awarded a
Luxembourg Prize for the Environment.
